Danantara prepares Rp16 trillion to build housing on Lippo Group-donated land
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Investment Management Agency (BPI) Danantara or Danantara Indonesia is preparing a budget of up to Rp16 trillion to support the construction of vertical housing on Lippo Group’s donated land.
James Riady, founder of the Pelita Harapan Foundation, has donated three parcels totalling about 30 hectares in Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java, which are planned for the construction of 140,000 vertical housing units for low-income communities (MBR).
‘The construction value is based on this 12.8 hectares; we will build a total of 18 towers. The calculation, if it goes ahead with 32 storeys, would be in the range of Rp14 trillion to Rp16 trillion,’ said Rosan Roeslani, CEO of Danantara Indonesia, during a site visit to the land in Cikarang, West Java, on Sunday.
Rosan stated that Danantara Indonesia fully supports the vertical housing development, given that the project supports the target of the 3 Million Homes Programme.
The project is also believed to help address housing demand and supply.
In the construction process, Danantara Indonesia will involve related state-owned enterprises (BUMN) and will collaborate with private contractors.
‘We will collaborate. So, that is Danantara’s role in this project,’ he said.
On the same occasion, Housing and Settlement Infrastructure Minister Maruarar Sirait added that vertical housing is one solution to the problem of limited housing land in urban areas as well as the housing backlog.
Following President Prabowo Subianto’s directive, providing decent and affordable housing for MBR is one of the main national development priorities.
After a site review, the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (Kementerian PKP) together with Danantara Indonesia will continue the maturation process of the development concept, including the drafting of a scheme for housing development areas, pricing mechanism, and the formulation of concepts and criteria for MBR purchases.
