Danantara Prepares Process to Acquire Stake in Indonesia Stock Exchange
Jakarta - The Danantara Indonesia Investment Management Agency (Danantara Indonesia) has stated it is preparing the process to acquire ownership of shares in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI).
Danantara Indonesia’s Chief Investment Officer, Pandu Sjahrir, said the agency is currently in discussions with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) regarding the process to obtain ownership in the BEI.
“Yes, the demutualisation process is ongoing, both with the OJK and the Board of Directors of the Exchange. God willing, it can be completed in the next few months,” Pandu said when met by the media at the BEI Building, Jakarta, on Monday.
Pandu explained that the BEI demutualisation process is currently in the stage of drafting an OJK Regulation (POJK), which is targeted for completion in September 2026.
“The details will be shared with everyone shortly. We are currently communicating well with both the OJK and the Exchange,” Pandu stated.
Pandu explained that Danantara’s ownership of the BEI will be carried out through PT Danantara Investment Management (DIM), with the share purchase being part of Danantara’s investment activities.
“The BPI has given direction to DIM to carry out the investment for the demutualisation,” Pandu said.
The OJK is currently drafting the OJK Regulation on demutualisation, which will serve as the legal basis for changing the institutional structure of the BEI from a mutual system to a demutualised one.
“If you read Law Number 4 of 2026 (the P2SK Law), there is state representation through Bank Indonesia, the Ministry of Finance, and Danantara. So, these will be the first parties to have the opportunity to own shares in the exchange, followed by a private deal among them,” Hasan said.
The OJK is targeting the completion of the derivative OJK Regulation from Law Number 4 of 2026 regarding the Demutualisation of the Indonesia Stock Exchange by the second week of September 2026.
