Bisnis.com, CILACAP — Danantara Indonesia has officially commenced the groundbreaking for 13 downstreaming projects in the second phase, with an investment value of Rp116 trillion on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

The Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) and CEO of Danantara, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, stated that in the future, Danantara is also preparing the third phase of the downstreaming programme, consisting of six projects with a much larger value compared to the second phase projects.

“For the six projects in the third phase, the value is likely to be larger, approximately almost US$10 billion, or around Rp170 trillion,” said Rosan in Cilacap, Central Java, on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

Rosan emphasised that the third phase downstreaming projects are targeted to start operating this year. Currently, Danantara is conducting in-depth studies on these projects, including readiness in terms of implementation schedules, markets, and technology.

“Yes, in a not too long time. However, we want everything to be done properly and correctly, in accordance with regulations and proper business processes. All stages must be carried out well so that the future results are also more optimal,” he explained.

Regarding priority sectors for downstreaming, Danantara will focus on the energy, plantations, and fisheries sectors to maximise the utilisation of domestic natural resources.

“There is still the energy sector. In addition, there will be the plantations sector, aquaculture, and several other sectors. Later, insyaallah, there will also be other sectors that we will announce in due time,” said Rosan.

Previously, Danantara had first conducted the groundbreaking for six first-phase downstreaming projects with a total investment of US$7 billion or around Rp110 trillion in February 2026. The initial six projects cover sectors from minerals and new renewable energy to food integration.

The series of projects is estimated to create around 3,000 direct jobs, while the indirect multiplier effects are projected to be even larger.

From the overall investment, the minerals sector is the largest contributor. Danantara has allocated around US$3 billion, or nearly half of the first phase investment value, for the construction of an integrated aluminium smelter, from alumina processing to aluminium products.
