Danantara Plans to Slash Down Payment for National Electric Motorcycles to 0%
The Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara), through state-owned banks (Himbara), plans to cut the down payment (DP) on national electric motorcycles (Molinas) to 0 percent. The move is intended to encourage public interest in switching to electric motorcycles.
“We have spoken with all banks and all financial institutions under Danantara that we are ready to support from our banking side to provide financing,” said Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani at the launch of the National Electric Motorcycle in Bekasi, West Java, on Thursday (13/8/2026), as quoted from detikFinance.
According to Rosan, the down payment for electric motorcycle loans from banks currently stands at around 10 percent of the vehicle price. He considers that figure to still be one of the considerations for the public before buying an electric motorcycle.
On that basis, he said, Danantara has taken the initiative to reduce the down payment. He even said Danantara is ready to eliminate it entirely to 0 percent if possible.
“The DP that still exists, according to information from our banks, is 10 percent. We will try to reduce it and even try to eliminate it (0 percent DP),” Rosan stressed.
In addition to reducing the down payment, Rosan said he has prepared initiatives in the form of lower interest rates and longer loan tenors so that electric motorcycle instalments become increasingly affordable for the wider public.
“So that public interest in buying electric motorcycles can proceed quickly and well, and we have the ability to accelerate the production of national electric motorcycles in Indonesia,” he added.
Rosan considers these measures important given the very large potential market for electric motorcycles in Indonesia. However, he continued, it has not yet been optimally tapped.
“There are approximately 140 million motorcycles in Indonesia, with annual purchases of 6-7 million units. But those buying electric motorcycles are only around 60-70 thousand, so only 1 percent. So if we look at the future potential, the upside could be exponential,” he added.
