The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Danantara, Dony Oskaria, has revealed plans for Danantara to establish an aircraft leasing company. Speaking after a working meeting with Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta, Dony stated that the agency is currently studying the feasibility of launching its own leasing entity.

This move is linked to the planned acquisition of 50 Boeing aircraft for PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (GIAA). Dony noted that the purchase of these 50 Boeing units requires careful consideration, including the timing of the delivery, the business model, and the potential use of leasing options.

“There are many considerations, certainly. However, we must fulfil our commitments,” Dony said, adding that Danantara will pursue the most profitable course of action, though the plan remains in the study phase.

This development follows a trade agreement signed in early February 2026 between Indonesia and the United States, titled ‘Toward a New Golden Age for the U.S.-Indonesia Alliance’, which outlines reciprocal trade provisions. Under this agreement, Indonesia is committed to the procurement of commercial aircraft and related aviation goods and services valued at $13.5 billion.

Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, confirmed during a press conference from Washington DC that several activities under the Reciprocal Tariff Agreement involve the Ministry of Investment and Danantara, specifically including the plan to purchase 50 aircraft from Boeing.
