Danantara Plans Rp 130 Trillion Investment for Subsidised Housing
JAKARTA, investor.id – The Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara Indonesia), acting on instructions from President Prabowo Subianto, plans to invest Rp 130 trillion in subsidised housing construction. Danantara has indicated that the funding scheme has been finalised, whilst the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas said technical discussions are still being developed.
The Danantara investment has emerged amid widespread controversy over subsidised housing floor areas being set at a minimum of 18 square metres. The proposal, initiated by the Ministry of Housing, has been criticised as too small for public housing standards.
Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani said in an official statement on Tuesday (17/6/2025) that Danantara has held discussions with banks belonging to the State-Owned Banks Association (Himbara), including Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) and Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN), to provide funding for housing projects organised by the Ministry of Housing.
The funding in question amounts to Rp 130 trillion by the end of 2025. "By the end of this year, we have calculated that it could reach approximately Rp 130 trillion, and of course the scheme has been finalised and can proceed immediately," said Rosan.
According to him, the banking sector is very receptive to the financing arrangement, particularly as housing guarantees are also provided by the government. Additionally, financing will be offered with favourable interest rate subsidies. Danantara will therefore fully support this public housing project.
However, banks are expected to adhere to established criteria. "We request that this also proceeds in accordance with existing regulations," said Rosan. He expressed confidence that Danantara's investment would have a positive impact on Indonesia's economic activity, adding that the public would welcome the subsidised housing programme initiated by the Ministry of Housing. "We will give our full support," Rosan affirmed.
Separately, Housing Minister Maruarar Sirait said his ministry, together with BP Tapera, Danantara Indonesia and five Himbara banks, is discussing the technical management of the Rp 130 trillion disbursement for housing projects. He said the funds would be allocated as people's business credit (KUR) in the housing sector, acknowledging that the Danantara funding was directed by President Prabowo Subianto.
According to Ara, the housing sector also supports economic growth as it involves related industries. "Economic growth is highly dependent on the housing sector, because there are around 180 related industries including cement, sand, glass, lighting and so forth," explained the minister, commonly known as Ara, as quoted from Antara.
