The merger aims to reduce entity fragmentation, optimise business scale, and eliminate overlapping services that have hampered the efficiency of state-owned logistics.

Senior Director Corporate Strategy of PT Danantara Asset Management (DAM), Aurelius Altius Rosimin, stated that the merger of seven state-owned logistics enterprises is a strategic step towards transformation and efficiency in the sector. Speaking on the sidelines of the Shareholders Agreement and Deed of Merger signing in Jakarta on Tuesday, Aurelius assessed that this consolidation is part of DAM’s portfolio transformation strategy to support the 2025-2045 National Long-Term Development Plan and the government’s Asta Cita programme.

“This merger aims to reduce entity fragmentation, optimise business scale, and eliminate overlapping services that have been hindering the efficiency of state-owned logistics,” he said.

The seven companies involved in the consolidation are Pelindo Sinergi Lokaseva Multiterminal Indonesia, Pelindo Sinergi Lokaseva Prima Indonesia Logistik, Pos Logistics, Pelni Logistics, PT Kawasan Berikat Nusantara, PT Varia Usaha Dharma Segara, and Krakatau Integrated Logistics.

Aurelius further explained that the merger of the seven state-owned logistics firms also aims to build an integrated ecosystem from upstream to downstream. By uniting the strengths of the entities, the consolidation is expected to enlarge the business scale, improve operational efficiency, and reduce duplication of functions and costs. This strategic move is targeted at strengthening the competitiveness of national logistics services while reducing Indonesia’s logistics costs, which are currently above the average for Southeast Asian countries.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT Pos Indonesia, Daud Joseph, said the company possesses a solid infrastructure foundation to integrate multimodal services and national logistics digitalisation. “Pos Indonesia is currently supported by a network of 5,597 service points reaching all corners of Indonesia, backed by a fleet of 8,032 units, with service coverage to more than 220 countries,” Daud said. “The company serves more than 2.2 million customers and processes over 300,000 parcels per day,” he added.

He also confirmed that the integration process will prioritise the principles of Good Corporate Governance and strict risk management. During the phased transition process, he guaranteed that operations will not be disrupted. “One of the main commitments is to maintain service continuity for all customers during the transformation process. Customers can be assured that they will not be affected by this merger process,” Daud stated.
