Danantara Indonesia and PLN Distribute 5,000 School Supply Packages to Three Provinces
Danantara Indonesia (the Investment Management Agency for Future State Resources) and PT PLN (Persero) have distributed school supply packages to 5,000 children across West Kalimantan, Southeast Sulawesi, and South Papua.
The assistance forms part of the “Light of Happiness for Indonesia’s Generation of Hope” programme, launched to commemorate Danantara Indonesia’s first anniversary. Under Danantara Indonesia’s coordination, this initiative reaches 88,000 children nationwide through support from state-owned enterprises (SOEs) within the Danantara Indonesia ecosystem.
In West Kalimantan, 2,500 school supply packages comprising bags and stationery have been distributed to students across various districts and municipalities. A symbolic handover ceremony took place at SDN 68 Singkawang in West Kalimantan on Monday, 2 March 2026.
Uray Yuniarti, Head of SDN 68 Singkawang, expressed appreciation for Danantara Indonesia and PLN’s support to students at the school. “We thank Danantara Indonesia and PLN for selecting our school as a beneficiary. We hope this assistance will benefit the children and motivate them to continue learning and pursuing their dreams,” she stated.
In South Papua, 500 packages were distributed. Silvester, a student at SD Inpres Gudang Arang in Merauke, South Papua, showed enthusiasm upon receiving his package. “I’m happy to have a new bag. Going to school now feels more motivating,” he said on Tuesday, 3 March 2026.
Wisye Misa, a teacher at SD Inpres Gudang Arang in Merauke, South Papua, also expressed joy. She noted that the assistance extends beyond merely providing new school supplies; it serves to motivate students to continue learning and pursuing their aspirations. “We are very grateful. Many of our children lack school supplies, so this assistance is well-targeted. We hope the children will make good use of these items and become more motivated to study,” she said.
In Southeast Sulawesi, 2,000 packages were distributed. Syanafika, a student from Yayasan Terpadu Al-Mutmainah Buton in Bau Bau, Southeast Sulawesi, expressed gratitude and motivation from the support. “Thank you to President Prabowo Subianto, Danantara Indonesia, and PLN for the bags and stationery. I promise to study hard to achieve my dreams,” she said on Tuesday, 3 March 2026.
Darmawan Prasodjo, PLN’s Chief Executive Officer, explained that the company’s involvement reflects its commitment to delivering broader benefits to communities. This is achieved through supporting the development of a stronger education ecosystem for the nation’s next generation, in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision.
“For PLN, providing light extends beyond electricity—it means creating opportunities for young people to pursue better futures. Through this programme, we want to ensure Indonesian children have the support they need to continue learning and realise their dreams,” Darmawan stated on Saturday, 14 March 2026.
He added that supporting education represents an important investment in the nation’s future. Therefore, PLN will continue collaborating with various stakeholders to implement social programmes delivering sustainable community benefits.
“Education is the foundation of national progress. PLN will continue to be present through various social initiatives to foster generations of Indonesians who are excellent, competitive, and ready for the future,” Darmawan concluded.
