Danantara Housing Expo 2026: SIG Showcases Earthquake-Resistant Precision Interlock Bricks
PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) is accelerating the transformation of sustainable construction by introducing innovations that improve building efficiency to support the provision of decent and quality housing.
One such transformation in the sustainable construction sector is the Precision Interlock Brick House innovation, which features a brick mechanism where blocks interlock with one another. The innovation was exhibited at the Danantara Housing Expo 2026.
“Housing development in the modern era no longer focuses solely on function, but also on speed and sustainability,” said SIG Corporate Secretary Vita Mahreyni in a statement on Tuesday, 25 August 2026.
She explained that the innovation was introduced to strengthen the national housing ecosystem through the availability of innovative materials, and to support the expansion of public access to decent and affordable housing.
“This feature offers many advantages in house construction, as it is more efficient in material usage and easier to apply, resulting in faster construction durations,” she said.
According to her, the Danantara Housing Expo 2026 serves as a momentum for the company to expand the use of this innovation for the public and to open collaboration opportunities with the government, developers, contractors and other stakeholders.
She noted that the innovation has been tested as earthquake-friendly, making it suitable for application in house construction in disaster-prone areas or as a solution to accelerate the rebuilding of homes for communities affected by disasters.
“This innovative building material product is a tangible contribution to delivering housing that is effective, efficient and resilient,” she said.
The Precision Interlock Brick makes the house construction process faster because it does not require brick soaking, the provision of casting mould boxes or formwork, the application of adhesive materials or mortar on each brick layer, nor the addition of plaster and skim coat.
In addition to being fast, it also provides a modern appearance and is able to keep indoor air cooler because it can release heat trapped inside the room.
She said the innovation’s earthquake resistance has been tested for areas with high seismicity levels (KDS D) based on 2D wall cyclic testing at the Centre for Building and Settlement Engineering under the Directorate General of Human Settlements and Housing Engineering.
