Danantara: Himbara Investment Manager Holding to be Completed This Month
The Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) is set to complete the formation of an Investment Holding for state-owned banks (Himbara) through PT Danareksa (Persero) by June 2026.
Chief Operating Officer of Danantara, Dony Oskaria, stated that Danareksa will serve as the primary umbrella for all investment managers (MI) owned by state-owned banks. Speaking after a meeting with Commission VI at the DPR RI building on Monday (8/6/2026), he noted that the merger of these investment managers is expected to be finalised this month.
This consolidation will bring PT Mandiri Manajemen Investasi, PT BRI Manajemen Investasi, PT BNI Asset Manajemen, and PT PNM Investment Manajemen under a single large entity under Danareksa. Dony noted that the spin-off from Danareksa has been completed and that the restructuring process is progressing well.
Previously, Dony mentioned that Danareksa would return to its original purpose as an asset management company, moving away from its previous business model. Speaking at the Cilacap Pertamina Refinery on Wednesday (29/4/2026), he explained, “Danareksa will return to its true essence as an asset management company. As a result of the merger of these four asset managers, they will become Danareksa.”
He further explained that Danareksa will no longer function as a diversified holding company, which currently spans sectors from infrastructure and finance to industrial estates. These various business lines will be separated and regrouped based on business similarities.
Currently, Danareksa maintains a highly diverse portfolio, ranging from infrastructure projects and state asset management through PPA to financial services and industrial estates. Moving forward, these segments will be partitioned and categorised accordingly.
With the integration of the Himbara investment managers, total assets under management (AUM) are projected to reach Rp185 trillion. This transformation is expected to elevate Danareksa’s position to become the second-largest asset management company in Indonesia. “It (Danareksa) will no longer be a holding company. Instead, it will merge into one strong company that will become the second largest asset management firm. To provide an idea, the current AUM of Himbara investment managers has reached Rp185 trillion,” said Dony.
By shifting its business model from a multi-sector holding company to a focused asset management firm, the Government hopes that Danareksa can operate more efficiently and strongly, while optimising the value of state assets more professionally.
