The Danantara Indonesia Investment Management Agency has revealed the reasons behind the selection of Jakarta and Bali as the initial locations for the development of the International Financial Centre of Indonesia (PFII).

Danantara Indonesia CEO Rosan Perkasa Roeslani said the choice of Jakarta and Bali was based on infrastructure readiness as well as the appeal of business and tourism ecosystems that are already internationally recognised.

The establishment of the PFII is part of the mandate of Law No. 4/2023 on Financial Sector Development and Strengthening (UU P2SK) to attract global investors and wealth managers to the country.

“For now, so that this can proceed, the plan is to start in Jakarta and then in Bali. We are currently preparing this together with the Minister of Finance,” Rosan said during a press conference on the 2027 State Budget Plan and Financial Note on Friday (14/8/2026).

In this national strategic project, Danantara is taking on the role of primary developer of physical infrastructure, from the provision of buildings to supporting facilities for the international financial district.

In addition, the response from prospective international investors has been positive. This was evident from the high level of enthusiasm at a dissemination forum held in Bali.

“We have already held an event with them in Bali. We invited 70, which was the capacity, but 110 [family offices] attended, and the response, I can say, was actually very positive,” Rosan said.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto stated that the government had determined a temporary location for the PFII in Jakarta, while also opening room for expansion to Bali and other regions to attract large funds from global investors.

The statement was delivered by the Head of State during the Government’s Statement on the Draft Law on the 2027 State Budget and Financial Note at the Plenary Session of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Nusantara Building, Jakarta, on Friday (14/8/2026).

“This PFII will become the new face of our financial centres. Jakarta and possibly Bali will serve as centres of finance, investment, financial technology, arbitration, and world-class commercial dispute resolution,” President Prabowo said.
