Danantara Expands into Middle East Aviation Ecosystem
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Danantara, through its aircraft maintenance company GMF AeroAsia, has officially extended its reach into the Middle East aviation ecosystem.
Together with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Oman, GMF has signed a 20-year concession agreement to operate and manage aircraft maintenance facilities at Muscat International Airport.
The agreement was signed by the President of the CAA, Naif bin Ali Al-Abri, and the CEO of GMF AeroAsia, Andy Fahrurrozi. The milestone took place on the sidelines of the opening of the Civil Aviation Investment Forum in Muscat, Oman, earlier this week.
Under the partnership, GMF will provide heavy maintenance and routine inspection services for the fleets of national, regional and international airlines. The aim is to position Muscat International Airport as an integrated hub for maintenance and regional aviation services, leveraging Oman’s strategic location.
“Beyond the business dimension, this cooperation also paves the way for the transfer of knowledge and advanced technology in airframe, engine and avionics maintenance,” said a statement citing the official account of the Oman Civil Aviation Authority, published on Tuesday (6 October 2026).
GMF’s expansion into the Middle East further demonstrates the presence of state-owned enterprises under Danantara. As President Prabowo has stated, SOEs under Danantara are meant to be not merely followers, but major players on the global stage.
“We want to see more Indonesian SOEs included in the Global Fortune 500, proving that Indonesia is not merely a follower, but can also be a pioneer and leader in the world economy,” said President Prabowo at the launch of Danantara at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday (24 February 2025).
