BPI Danantara through PT Danantara Investment Management (DIM) has established a new subsidiary to pursue Waste to Energy (WtE) projects or Waste Processing into Electricity Facilities (PSEL). The company’s name is PT Daya Energi Bersih Nusantara (DENERA), which was newly formed on 1 April 2026. “Daya Energi Bersih Nusantara is a company newly established by Danantara Investment Management on 1 April 2026, which focuses on implementing the PSEL programme,” said Director of Investments at Danantara Investment Management, Fadli Rahman, during the Coffee Afternoon with Danantara event at Wisma Danantara, Jakarta, on Thursday (9/4/2026). Fadli stated that DENERA will act as the manager and hold a 30% stake in the PSEL facilities. Meanwhile, the project partners will hold a 70% stake. Moving forward, DENERA will also become a company that improves waste management in Indonesia, starting from the collection stage to the implementation of processing schemes such as Waste Processing Depots Reduce (DPSR), Waste Processing Depots Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (DPS3R), and Integrated Waste Processing Depots (DPST). “And we will also focus on developing for waste other than household waste, such as industrial waste and even hazardous waste,” he said. Starting Construction of Waste-to-Electricity Projects BPI Danantara targets the construction of three Waste to Energy (WtE) or Waste Processing into Electricity (PSEL) projects no later than July 2026. The maximum delay is in June or July 2026. These four projects will be located in Bekasi, Denpasar, and Bogor. “The groundbreaking can be done at any time from April to June. But what’s more important is when the construction begins. Our target is to start building by the end of June, at the latest early July,” Fadli revealed when met at Graha Mandiri on Friday (6/3/2026). Fadli said that the construction process for these waste-to-electricity projects will take up to two years. However, for the first two projects in Bekasi and Denpasar, which already have partners, they have committed to faster construction. “Coincidentally, both have a stronger commitment to speed. Their promise is that by the end of 2027, it will be built and COD. For Bekasi, early 2028,” Fadli explained.
