Danantara Indonesia has established PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia (DSI), a new SOE, to strengthen the management of imports and exports of strategic commodities.
DSI will act as an export‑import intermediary in its first phase, before transitioning into a strategic commodity trading company in the second phase.
RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara Indonesia) has established a new state‑owned enterprise (SOE) to strengthen the management of imports and exports of national strategic commodities. The company, PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia (DSI), will begin operations on June 1, 2026.
Danantara Indonesia’s Managing Director of Stakeholder Management and Communication, Rohan Hafas, said DSI will operate in two phases.
The first phase, running from June through December 2026, will see DSI act as both an appraiser and an exporter. “DSI will serve as an intermediary in the export process to foreign markets for certain commodities,” Rohan said at Wisma Danantara in Jakarta on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
In this initial phase, DSI will appraise and mediate transactions between vendors and purchasers of strategic commodities intended for export. In the second phase, DSI will function as a trading company, directly purchasing and selling export goods on the international market.
According to Rohan, transactions will be conducted based on international market prices, a measure expected to curb underinvoicing practices that harm state revenue. Transaction risks will be borne by DSI, which will also receive export payments in foreign currency.
Danantara Indonesia’s Chief Investment Officer, Pandu Sjahrir, previously stated that the establishment of DSI is a direct mandate from President Prabowo Subianto to strengthen the national export‑import trade system. “That is why we established PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia,” he said.
DSI is also expected to enhance transparency and reporting in strategic commodity trade, with palm oil and coal identified as key sectors of focus. Pandu added that DSI will help optimize the management of Indonesia’s foreign exchange reserves and improve efficiency in the national trade management system. (Gusti Panji)
