Efforts to build a national waste management ecosystem have entered a new phase. Danantara has established PT Daya Energi Bersih Nusantara (Denera) as a holding company that will manage projects converting waste into electricity.

The company, formed on 1 April 2026, is designed as an integrated waste management entity and a platform to attract investments in Waste-to-Energy Power Plants (PLTSa) in various regions.

Chief Investment Officer of Danantara Indonesia, Pandu Patria Sjahrir, explained that PT Denera will consolidate all activities related to investments, development, and operations of Waste-to-Electricity Management projects (PSEL).

“With this, operational standards, investment governance, and coordination with domestic and international partners can run more effectively and accountably,” said Pandu in an official statement quoted by iNews on Thursday (9/4).

As a holding company, Denera will serve as the parent for all Business Entities for Development and Management (BUPP) of PSEL projects in Indonesia. Each BUPP will be formed through collaboration between Denera and selected consortium partners for respective projects.

This role positions Denera as the national coordination centre for waste-to-energy (WtE) project development, from planning to operations.

PROMOTING INVESTMENT AND WASTE MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY

In addition to consolidation functions, Denera will focus on enhancing waste management systems from upstream to downstream. The applied scheme will include Reduce Waste Processing Depots (DPSR), Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Waste Processing Depots (DPS3R), and Integrated Waste Processing Depots (DPST).

The company will also manage project investments, including attracting participation from domestic and international investors to accelerate the construction of WtE facilities.

Denera will act as a bridge for technology cooperation with global partners to bring more modern and environmentally friendly waste management solutions.

“With PT Denera, we are creating a structured and highly competitive investment platform. PT Denera will also serve as a catalyst for upstream waste management and handle various types of waste,” said Pandu.
