Jakarta - Danantara Indonesia, the Investment Management Agency for Future Power of the Archipelago, has established a new business unit named Daya Energi Bersih Nusantara, or Denera. This company focuses on developing Waste-to-Energy (WtE) programmes, or Pengolahan Sampah Menjadi Energi Listrik (PSEL). The formation of Denera took place on 1 April 2026 and it operates as a subsidiary of PT Danantara Investment Management (DIM). Fadli Rahman, Lead of Waste-to-Energy and Director of Investment at Danantara Investment Management, stated that Denera will directly execute PSEL projects. “Daya Energi Bersih Nusantara is a newly formed company by Danantara Investment Management on 1 April 2026, which focuses on implementing the PSEL programme,” Fadli said during the Danantara Indonesia Media Briefing at Wisma Danantara, Jakarta, on Thursday (9/4/2026). Each PSEL unit construction requires an investment of Rp 2.5 trillion to Rp 2.8 trillion. The ownership structure is set at 70% for the Business Entity for Development and Management (BUPP) partner, with the remainder held by Denera. “Denera will also be a company that is integrated in waste management. Therefore, integrated waste management must focus strongly on PSEL,” he added. Fadli views PSEL projects as the main driver in building an integrated waste management system. These projects not only generate electricity but also encompass waste management from upstream to downstream. “And how we will educate the public to manage waste better because culture also needs to change in waste management. We will also focus on developing non-household waste, such as industrial waste,” Fadli concluded.
