Danantara enters GoTo, focusing on improving the welfare of online motorcycle taxi drivers
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani, who also serves as CEO of Danantara, stated that Danantara has entered as an investor in the digital transportation technology company GoTo Group as part of the government’s strategy to improve the welfare of online motorcycle taxi (ojol) partners.
Rosan explained that the investment process is being carried out in stages and has already begun since early 2026, with Danantara’s main focus not merely share ownership, but rather promoting policies that directly impact drivers.
“Danantara has already started entering and we have already discussed it; for us, the important thing is the welfare of ojol drivers, how we can improve the welfare of ojol drivers, including the provision of BPJS Health and BPJS Employment,” said Rosan at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Rosan added that Danantara has also pushed for the provision of Holiday Bonuses (BHR) for ojol partners so that their value can be increased.
“Previously, these ojol companies were competing in marketing, burning cash up to hundreds of millions of dollars just for marketing. So we invited them to talk about something else: no need to burn cash anymore; it’s better to use this money for the benefit of ojol rather than us burning money against each other,” explained Rosan.
Furthermore, Danantara’s investment in GoTo is being carried out in stages, and the total share ownership cannot yet be detailed. However, the government emphasises that its primary orientation remains on business sustainability as well as improving partner welfare.
In addition to social protection and bonus increases, Rosan mentioned that the government is also preparing follow-up policies, including the implementation of a maximum app deduction limit of 8 percent in accordance with President Prabowo’s directive.
Rosan affirmed that various follow-up steps related to the investment or possible strategic cooperation are still in the discussion process and will be announced in the next stage.
