Danantara Ensures Support for PT PAL Indonesia to Be Realised Soon
Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA) - Danantara Indonesia has committed to accelerating the realisation of support for PT PAL Indonesia as the lead integrator of the national maritime industry, including through strengthening resource allocation and fulfilling long-term investment needs.
“This step is taken to support the company’s business transformation and development,” said Danantara Indonesia Director of Business 2 Setyanto Hantoro in Surabaya on Tuesday.
Setyanto emphasised that Danantara is fully committed to overseeing financial support, optimising budget allocations, and ensuring targeted strategic investments. He stated that this acceleration is a priority that must be realised immediately, following President Prabowo Subianto’s directive during a limited meeting in February 2026.
According to him, the strategic steps being undertaken by PT PAL Indonesia, including the transformation of the maritime industry 4.0, align with President Prabowo’s vision of building a globally competitive and independent national industry. He added that PT PAL holds a highly strategic position as the only shipyard in Southeast Asia with the capability to build submarines.
Moreover, PT PAL has proven its ability to independently produce superior products by involving the domestic component industry, thereby positively impacting the maritime industry ecosystem. “The competitive advantages possessed by PT PAL must continue to be strengthened and accelerated,” he said.
PT PAL Indonesia President Director Kaharuddin Djenod revealed that the company has prepared a strong foundation to carry out its role as the National Consolidator and Lead Integrator of Indonesia’s maritime industry. PT PAL’s readiness as the National Maritime Industry Consolidator begins with strengthening financial fundamentals, modernising production facilities, accelerating project completion, and implementing comprehensive digital system integration.
Kaharuddin explained that PT PAL is currently focused on strengthening production independence and technological mastery to improve company performance while enhancing competitiveness in the global market. “The characteristics of the defence manufacturing industry are very complex and different from other sectors, so strengthening production and technological capabilities is key to ensuring PT PAL can grow sustainably and competitively at the international level,” said Kaharuddin.
