The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Danantara Indonesia and Head of the SOE Regulatory Agency, Dony Oskaria, stated that the positive performance of SOEs, especially within the banking sector, serves as a foundation for strengthening the national economy.

“State-owned banks play a strategic role in driving economic growth,” Dony said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.

Dony added that financing support must continue to be directed towards productive sectors capable of creating jobs, increasing competitiveness, and providing a tangible impact on society.

According to him, financing for the manufacturing sector, natural resource downstreaming, infrastructure development, and the empowerment of MSMEs must be continuously strengthened to create a broader multiplier effect for the national economy. At the same time, strengthening governance and risk management remains a primary prerequisite for ensuring that this transformation can proceed sustainably.

Meanwhile, the CEO of Danantara Indonesia, who also serves as the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM, Rosan Roeslani, stated that the strength of SOEs is measured not only by the size of their assets or profits but also by their contribution to national development.

According to Rosan, the combined market capitalisation of the State-Owned Bank Association (Himbara) currently reaches approximately Rp1,100 trillion, which is equivalent to about 10 per cent of the total value of all companies in Indonesia.

“The Himbara banks are worth roughly Rp1,100 trillion, reflecting 10 per cent of the entire capital market or the total value of Indonesian companies,” he said.

Rosan added that the banking sector should not solely pursue profits; its presence must be felt by the public through the provision of equal opportunities across all levels, from MSMEs to commercial and corporate entities.

Notably, several strategic SOEs demonstrated significant profit growth during the period of April 2025 to April 2026. One such example is PT Pupuk Indonesia, which saw its consolidated profit increase from Rp1.59 trillion to Rp4.82 trillion.

During the same period, PT Pertamina (Persero) also recorded an increase in consolidated profit from Rp13.9 trillion to Rp24.97 trillion. Growth was also observed in various other sectors, ranging from banking and logistics to the manufacturing industry.

Furthermore, PT Krakatau Steel successfully reversed a loss of Rp981 billion into a profit of Rp635 billion. This achievement coincided with the company’s success in reducing its debt burden from approximately US$1.7 billion to US$1.1 billion.

Similarly, PT Danareksa transformed from a loss of Rp72 billion to a profit of Rp43 billion. Similar improvements were seen in PT Kimia Farma, which moved from a loss of Rp160 billion to a profit of Rp108 billion; PT Len Industri, which shifted from a loss of Rp228 billion to a profit of Rp314 billion; and PT Semen Indonesia, which recorded an increase from a deficit of Rp66 billion to a profit of Rp106 billion.
