Chief Operating Officer of Danantara Indonesia and Head of BP BUMN Dony Oskaria has provided an update on the restructuring process of state-owned construction firms. According to him, the process is difficult to carry out because the problems faced are quite extensive.

Dony explained that the first obstacle is the large amount of debt held by the state-owned construction companies. Secondly, the problems are not only at the holding level but also in subsidiary and sub-subsidiary entities, which can number more than 20 entities.

“Each of these construction firms has its own subsidiaries and sub-subsidiaries. All of them are also problematic. So we have to resolve them one by one, one by one, one by one. This is what takes time,” said Dony when met at the DPR RI Building on Tuesday (18/8/2026).

He said the problem could be resolved quickly, but that would have an impact on the ecosystem. Therefore, the process takes a considerable amount of time.

“We could merge them, pilot them and so on. But we are also thinking about the impact. What is the impact on the rest of the ecosystem? So we are being very careful,” Dony concluded.

Moreover, he mentioned that the total debt of the state-owned construction firms reaches hundreds of trillions of rupiah. Therefore, the problems must be resolved gradually.

Nevertheless, Dony admitted that his side is still striving to ensure the restructuring process of the state-owned construction firms can be completed by the end of this year. However, he did not promise that this would be achieved, given the many complex problems, such as the troubled LRT City and the lawsuit against WIKA Realty.
