The Head and Chief Operating Officer of the Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara) Investment Management Agency, Dony Oskaria, has revealed plans for Danantara to establish an aircraft leasing company. This statement pertains to the planned purchase of 50 Boeing aircraft units for PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (GIAA).

“We are also studying the possibility of Danantara opening its own leasing company,” said Dony, after attending a working meeting with Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (9/6/2026).

Dony noted that the purchase of 50 Boeing aircraft requires extensive consideration, including delivery timelines, the business model to be utilised, and the specific leasing or rental schemes involved.

“There are certainly many considerations. However, we must fulfil the commitment,” he stated. Based on these considerations, Dony added that Danantara will take the most profitable course of action, though the plan is currently still in the study phase.

In February 2026, Indonesia and the United States signed a trade agreement titled ‘Toward a New Golden Age for the U.S.-Indonesia Alliance’, which includes provisions for reciprocal trade between the two nations. One key point of the agreement involves Indonesia’s commitment to procure commercial aircraft and related aviation goods and services valued at US$13.5 billion.

“From this Reciprocal Tariff Agreement, there are several activities involving the Ministry of Investment as well as Danantara, including the plan to purchase 50 aircraft from Boeing,” stated the Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, during a press conference held online from Washington DC, USA, on Friday (20/2/2026).
