Danantara Collaborates with Thaksin, Prabowo Discusses Global Investment
President Prabowo Subianto attended a meeting with former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and officials from the Danantara Investment Management Agency in Jakarta on Thursday. The meeting discussed strategic cooperation opportunities to strengthen the national economy, ranging from governance and accelerating industrial downstreaming to digital transformation. Thaksin attended in his capacity as a member of Danantara’s Advisory Board. Danantara stated that collaboration with global partners is a key focus to accelerate the transformation of state-owned enterprises (BUMN) so that they are more competitive internationally. The meeting was attended by Danantara’s leadership, including Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria, Chief Executive Officer Rosan Roeslani, Chief Investment Officer Pandu Sjahrir, and Chief Transformation Officer Sigit Puji Santosa. The participants discussed cross-sector cooperation opportunities aligned with Danantara’s future investment direction. The discussion touched on priority sectors, from strengthening governance and accelerating industrial downstreaming to digital transformation based on global networks. This synergy is directed at expanding access to quality investment, building investor confidence, and supporting Indonesia’s economic growth. Prior to the meeting at Danantara’s office, Prabowo also received Thaksin Shinawatra and his family at his private residence on Jalan Kertanegara, South Jakarta, on Wednesday evening. The meeting took place after Prabowo saw off Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s departure from Yogyakarta. Thaksin’s daughter, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who served as Thailand’s Prime Minister from 2024 to 2025, was also present. According to the Cabinet Secretariat, during the meeting at Kertanegara, Prabowo and Thaksin exchanged views on global strategic developments and regional dynamics. Thaksin’s presence as a Danantara Advisory Board member is expected to open up access to international networks and experience to support investment and downstreaming programmes in Indonesia.
