Danantara Cleans Up PT Pos Indonesia After Uncovering Financial Engineering

The Investment Management Agency (BPI) Danantara Indonesia is conducting a clean-up of PT Pos Indonesia. This clean-up process was revealed after Danantara discovered financial and governance problems that had been accumulating for years at PT Pos Indonesia, including indications of alleged financial engineering. This step is being taken so that PT Pos Indonesia can once again become a healthy, professional, accountable company with integrity. The hope is that PT Pos Indonesia will be able to carry out its mandate optimally for the public. Managing Director of Stakeholders Management & Communications Rohan Hafas emphasised that Danantara will not tolerate any practices that damage corporate governance. “Therefore, we must resolve the problems that have been burdening the company one by one. There is no room for practices that damage corporate governance. All findings will be followed up professionally, transparently, and in accordance with legal processes,” Rohan said in a written statement on Friday (3/7/2026). The findings of alleged financial engineering were obtained from a due diligence process and comprehensive evaluation conducted by Danantara on PT Pos Indonesia. Rohan said that these indications of irregularities are currently being followed up through audit and investigation mechanisms in accordance with applicable regulations. “PT Pos Indonesia is indeed currently being thoroughly overhauled. From the ongoing due diligence and evaluation process, we found various financial and governance issues that have accumulated over the years. We also received reports and found indications of various irregularities, including alleged financial engineering, which are currently being followed up through audit and investigation mechanisms in accordance with applicable regulations,” Rohan concluded. Prior to Danantara announcing the clean-up effort, Daud Joseph resigned as President Director of Pos Indonesia on Thursday, 2 July 2026. Daud resigned for personal reasons, which were not explained in detail. Meanwhile, Danantara had received Daud’s resignation letter on Monday, 29 June 2026. He had previously been tasked with reforming the company’s financial, operational, governance, and organisational conditions. Rohan explained that Daud assessed the company needed a more suitable leader to head the next transformation agenda for PT Pos, hence Daud submitted his resignation. “Based on the results of the assessment, the person concerned conveyed that PT Pos Indonesia requires a comprehensive and fundamental revamp. According to him, the complexity of the problems faced and the future restructuring agenda require more specific expertise to lead the next phase of transformation,” Rohan said in the same statement.
