Danantara Chief Says PT DSI Will Officially Become a State-Owned Enterprise Next Week

JAKARTA — Rosan Roeslani, chief executive of Danantara and Minister of Investment and Hilirisasi, has revealed that PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI) will soon become a state-owned enterprise (BUMN). Since the formation of PT DSI was announced, its status has remained that of a national private entity. “Next week,” Rosan said briefly at the Istana complex in Jakarta on Friday, 22 May 2026. He confirmed that PT DSI will transition into a BUMN and noted that a place at Danantara has been prepared to serve as the PT DSI office. “At Danantara, the office is already prepared,” he said. It is understood that the government is preparing a scheme for a state-owned enterprise dedicated to exports, scheduled to take effect on 1 June 2026. The new BUMN will be named PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia (DSI), which will begin operations on 1 June. “The Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM has formed what is called PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia. Further details will be explained later,” said Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto at a press conference at the DPR Building, Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday 20 May 2026. Danantara Indonesia has appointed Luke Thomas Mahony as President Director of PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI), the new BUMN established to manage exports of strategic natural resources. “For now, the Director (CEO) of PT DSI is Luke Thomas,” Rosan said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, 21 May 2026. Luke Thomas Mahony is an Australian national who had previously held the role of SEVP Business Performance & Optimization at Danantara Indonesia since September 2025. He brings more than 21 years of experience in the mining industry. Prior to joining Danantara, Luke served as Chief Strategy and Technical Officer at PT Vale Indonesia Tbk from July 2024 to September 2025.
