A number of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) will be encouraged to become public companies in the near future. The plan for these SOEs to list through initial public offerings (IPOs) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) was revealed directly by the Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Supervisory Board and Danantara COO, Dony Oskaria. He named companies such as PT Pegadaian, PT Angkasa Pura (Persero), and PT Pelayaran Indonesia as candidates. “We have many good companies that will be pushed to IPO soon, for example, there is Pegadaian, Pupuk Indonesia, Pelindo, Angkasa Pura, and many other companies that have good market capitalisation to be listed later,” he told reporters at the Ministry of Finance office in Jakarta on Wednesday. Dony stated that the goal of turning these SOEs into publicly listed companies on the capital market is to serve as an engine for Indonesia’s economic growth. “It is also for economic growth, so that there will be many IPOs in the capital market,” Dony said.
