Bisnis.com, JAKARTA - The Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF) Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara) Indonesia has confirmed that it is active in the domestic capital market, even though it does not appear on the list of shareholders holding more than 1%. Previously, Danantara’s presence in the market had been a question for investors, as after the publication of the shareholding list above 1% by the Indonesia Stock Exchange, Danantara did not appear on it, except for shares that had already been transferred from the government. Indeed, Danantara’s status as an active investor had been disclosed to the public when the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) fell following MSCI’s announcement that Indonesia would be downgraded to a frontier market from its current emerging market status in early February 2026. Pandu Patria Sjahrir, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Danantara Indonesia, confirmed that the state asset manager’s investment arm has been actively trading in the Indonesian stock market. He explained that Danantara does not operate directly, but through third‑party fund managers. According to him, for this year all Danantara activity will be conducted through third‑party fund managers chosen for their track record, service, and strong institutional capacity. The selection of fund managers also takes into account the robustness of operational infrastructure. ‘We ask the selected fund managers to invest in shares with solid fundamentals, good valuation, and good liquidity,’ Pandu told Bisnis on Thursday (5 March 2026). The former commissioner of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) said they will always support Indonesia’s capital market because of its bright prospects. ‘Our aim is also to deepen the market or improve liquidity in Indonesia’s capital market,’ he said. The move is also accompanied by increased transparency and more institutional funds to move actively in the Indonesian stock market.
