Danantara CEO and Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, plans to provide numerous incentives for electric motorcycles. One of the measures to be introduced is the ability to purchase an electric motorcycle on credit with a zero per cent down payment.

Furthermore, Danantara is also considering providing incentives to electric motorcycle companies, such as funding with lower interest rates and longer loan tenors.

"Danantara is ready to support through our banking sector by providing funding with lower interest rates, longer tenors, and we will try to eliminate the down payment which currently still stands at 10 per cent," Rosan stated during the launch of the National Electric Motorcycle in Cikarang, West Java, on Thursday (13/8/2026).

According to Rosan, waiving the down payment will help accelerate electric motorcycle sales and boost production in Indonesia.

"So that public interest in buying electric motorcycles can grow quickly and smoothly, and accelerate electric motorcycle production," he said.

Rosan noted that the potential for electric motorcycles in Indonesia is enormous. There are currently approximately 140 million motorcycles in Indonesia, with annual purchases ranging between 6 and 7 million units. However, electric motorcycle sales only account for 60,000 to 70,000 units of that total, a figure that needs to be significantly increased.

"So it is only one per cent. We see the future potential as exponential. We see a market size of US$170 billion. There are around 10 national companies that have met our TKDN criteria together with LEN, giving them international standardisation. They can become champions not only locally, but regionally and globally," he explained.
