Danantara CEO on Eramet Acquisition in Weda Bay Nickel: We Are Open!
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The CEO of the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, has spoken out on the planned acquisition of shares in Eramet Indonesia at PT Weda Bay Nickel (WBN). According to him, it is currently still in the discussion stage. “We are basically open to discussions and talks regarding investments in Indonesia, and Danantara can serve as a strong local partner. We are open, we are also discussing with Eramet,” said Rosan at the Presidential Palace Complex on Tuesday (12/5/2026). Citing MySteel, Danantara is reportedly in talks to buy all or part of the 38.7% stake held by Eramet in PT Weda Bay Nickel. According to sources, negotiations are in the early stages. However, as part of the deal, Danantara is said to possibly participate in Eramet’s planned €500 million rights issue this year. Eramet has not commented on this matter. Previously, Eramet has suspended dividend payments and plans to raise €500 million, equivalent to Rp10.27 trillion, to improve its financial position. Meanwhile, Eramet announced on 23 April that due to a sharp 71% cut by the Indonesian government to the 2026 RKAB production quota, production at PT Weda Bay Nickel will be temporarily halted starting May 2026, as the quota is nearly exhausted.
