Danantara Builds World-Class HR Development System for State-Owned Enterprises
Head of BP BUMN and COO of Danantara, Dony Oskaria, addressed senior leaders and top talent of state-owned enterprises during a leadership development event on Friday (24/7/2026). On the occasion, Dony asserted that the transformation of SOEs is not only aimed at improving current company performance but also at building a foundation for long-term sustainability, in line with the directives of President Prabowo Subianto.
“Although the transformation has driven performance improvements in a number of SOEs, this success must be underpinned by sustainable human resource development,” Dony stated in a written release in Jakarta on Friday (24/7/2026).
According to him, strong leadership is key to ensuring companies continue to grow and are able to face future challenges. “What actually distinguishes a CEO from a manager is their commitment to the sustainability of a company,” Dony remarked.
To realise this, Dony continued, Danantara is building an integrated, world-class HR management system across the entire SOE ecosystem. The system begins with the implementation of a Single Grading System and Job Value to harmonise assessment systems and job classifications across the corporate group.
Additionally, Danantara is implementing a Job Requirement and Competency Matrix as the basis for talent placement. Through this system, every position will be filled based on competency, qualifications, and objective assessment results, leaving no room for placement practices based on personal likes and dislikes.
As part of strengthening leadership, Danantara is also establishing the Danantara Corporate University, which will serve as a development centre for around 300 outstanding SOE talents. Participants will be equipped with uniform competency standards, leadership skills, and soft skills to prepare future company leaders.
Through this system, Danantara targets that all strategic positions within the SOE environment in the future can be filled by talent that has grown and developed from within the companies. “I hope that from 2028 onwards, all directors, CEOs, and so forth will be people who have grown from within the company. This is what ensures the sustainability of our companies going forward,” Dony said.
Dony stressed that developing talent is the primary responsibility of every CEO so that the transformation that has been carried out can continue and become a foundation for the next generation of leaders. “Everything must be talent that we develop. That is our responsibility as a CEO,” Dony concluded.
