Danantara Breaks Silence on Unreleased Financial Report
The Investment Management Agency (BPI) Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara) has spoken out regarding its inaugural financial report, which has not yet been issued until May 2026. In an official statement, the Danantara Communications Team stated that Danantara is a sui generis body established through Law No. 1 of 2025. A sui generis body is a special agency or institution formed by law, operating outside the central or regional government structure, with autonomous authority to carry out certain government tasks. According to the Communications Team, Danantara Indonesia’s reporting provisions are based on Law No. 1 of 2025, as amended by Law No. 16 of 2025, and its implementing regulations. “As a sui generis body, Danantara Indonesia still submits its annual financial report to the government auditor, the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK),” the Communications Team wrote in the official statement on the Danantara website, quoted on Friday, 15 May 2026. The non-release of Danantara’s financial report has been questioned by Next Indonesia Center Director Herry Gunawan. He stated that according to regulations, the report should have been submitted two months after the fiscal year ends, or at the latest in February 2026. According to Herry, Danantara has ignored the regulations and set a poor example for the SOEs under it. “This shows a lack of commitment from Danantara to implement good governance, making the management of SOEs under it risky,” Herry said in a written statement, quoted on Friday, 15 May 2026. Herry said that at least three regulations have been violated in connection with the non-issuance of Danantara’s annual report. First, Government Regulation No. 8 of 2006 on Financial and Performance Reporting of Government Agencies. Second, Article 20 of Presidential Regulation No. 29 of 2014 on the Government Agency Performance Accountability System. Third, Minister of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform Regulation No. 53 of 2014 on Technical Guidelines for Performance Agreements, Performance Reporting, and Procedures for Reviewing Government Agency Performance Reports. President Prabowo Subianto, Herry said, should pay attention to the culture of ignoring rules that have been made by the government itself. “Behaviour like Danantara’s will erode public trust in the government,” he stated.
