Danantara Boss States 167 SOEs Have Been Closed, Ensures No Layoffs for Employees
JAKARTA - The Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Agency (BP BUMN) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Danantara Indonesia, Dony Oskaria, has revealed that 167 state-owned enterprises have been closed or liquidated. This step was taken over the past year in line with the streamlining programme for state-owned enterprises implemented by Danantara Indonesia. “The total number liquidated up to today is around 167 companies,” Dony said when met at the Mulia Senayan Hotel in Jakarta on Tuesday (28/4/2026). Dony added that although the number of state-owned enterprises is being reduced, the process will not trigger layoffs for employees. This is because the consolidation focuses on business process efficiency, not on the number of workers. “This streamlining is aimed at benefiting employees. So there’s no need to worry; everything is done with good intentions. Employees don’t need to worry about being laid off, as this is a process to improve efficiency in the companies’ business processes, not on the employee side,” he stated. The consolidation covers various sectors, from construction, logistics, asset management, securities, hospitality, cement industry, to insurance. “So we will execute all of it. Because it is indeed the deadline from the President. The sooner we can complete it, the better,” Dony concluded.
