Danantara Boss Responds to Pramono's Request for LRT Jakarta Development Support
The Investment Management Agency (BPI) Danantara is currently assessing support for the development of the Jakarta Light Rail Transit (LRT) as part of efforts to build an integrated mass transportation system.
This was stated by the COO of BPI, Dony Oskaria, when asked regarding the central government’s request for support in the development of the Jakarta LRT, as requested by the Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung.
“Regarding the LRT, we are certainly reviewing it because it is part of the integration of mass transportation modes that we are preparing,” said Dony at the Presidential Palace Complex on Tuesday (22/09/2026).
He noted that this integration will not only cover the LRT but also the railway networks currently being prepared for electrification. Several mentioned routes include Jakarta-Cikampek, Jakarta-Sukabumi, and Jakarta-Merak.
“Eventually, this will all be integrated, including the integration of the LRT with the MRT and also with the Busway,” he added.
According to Dony, the government wants these various modes of transport to not operate separately based on the respective authorities of each manager. Integration is expected to form a single, interconnected mass transportation system.
“So this will become a single entity; this is what we will be discussing later with the Governor,” he said.
He added that the government will also discuss the division of roles and authorities between the parties involved, including PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) and PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro).
“So that it is not fragmented—which part belongs to KAI, which part belongs to Jakpro, and so on. This will become one unified system,” said Dony.
It is hoped that through this integration of the LRT, MRT, Bus Rapid Transit, and railway networks, the mass transportation system in the Jakarta area and its surroundings can be connected within a single network.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung expressed his desire for Danantara to assist in the construction of the Jakarta LRT to President Prabowo Subianto. This was revealed during the inauguration of the Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading - Manggarai route at Manggarai LRT Station on Wednesday (16/09/2026).
He explained that the construction of the Jakarta LRT has not stopped at the Kelapa Gading - Manggarai route. There are plans to develop lines reaching the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Velodrome, and Halim, which connects to the Whoosh high-speed rail.
“And what is also exciting is that we will continue this LRT from Kelapa Gading to JIS, and then from Velodrome to Whoosh, the high-speed train. It would be even more gratifying for the President if you were to assign and have Danantara also assist us, Sir,” said Pramono.
Responding to Pramono Anung’s request for assistance in the construction of the Jakarta LRT, Prabowo immediately ordered the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Danantara to assist the Jakarta Provincial Government.
“There was a small hope expressed by the Governor (Pramonto Anung) for Danantara to assist. I believe Danantara is obliged to help,” said Prabowo at the same event.
