Danantara appoints Wangneng Environment Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Weiming Environment Protection Co., Ltd. to manage Bekasi-Denpasar Waste-to-Energy facilities
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara Indonesia) announced the selected partners for the Waste-to-Energy (WtE) facility, or Waste-to-Electricity (PSEL), projects in Bekasi and Denpasar. Through a comprehensive partner selection process, involving several experienced international companies, Danantara named Wangneng Environment Co., Ltd. as the operator for the Bekasi plant and Zhejiang Weiming Environment Protection Co., Ltd. as the operator for Denpasar. ‘Today’s announcement marks an important step in ensuring the Waste-to-Energy facilities are managed to the highest standards of operational reliability, safety, and accountability. We will continue to work closely with the partners,’ said Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Danantara Pandu Sjahrir in a formal statement in Jakarta, on Friday. Pandu said that the regional government (pemda), as well as all relevant stakeholders, will deliver measurable progress in reducing waste and generating clean energy. ‘The selected operator partners are expected to maintain consistent operational performance, ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, and promote ongoing engagement with the community,’ Pandu added. In line with Presidential Regulation No. 109 of 2025, the designation forms part of the Danantara WtE/PSEL programme aimed at addressing waste issues by strengthening urban waste management, reducing dependence on disposal at landfills, and supporting sustainable energy generation. In line with Danantara’s dual mandate, operator partners are required to form a consortium to drive technology transfer, including with regional state-owned enterprises and Indonesian local companies. Additionally, Danantara emphasised strong governance from the outset, including a transparent and risk-based selection process. On the occasion, it emphasised its commitment to continue pushing integrated waste management solutions that create positive impacts for the environment and all Indonesians.
