Danantara Appoints PSEL Bekasi Partner, Targets Design Completion by 2026
Bekasi Regency (ANTARA) - PT Danantara Investment Management (DIM) has appointed the implementation partner for the waste-to-energy (PSEL) facility project in Bekasi Regency, West Java, whilst targeting the design phase to be completed this year.
“Today we reported to the Acting Regent of Bekasi that the partner selection process has been completed, and we also conveyed the stages of acceleration towards the construction of the PSEL project,” said PT DIM Investment Director Fadli Rahman in Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, on Wednesday.
He explained that Everbright Harmony, one of the largest waste-to-energy companies from China, was selected as the implementation partner for the Bekasi Regency PSEL construction. This appointment also marks a new chapter in the work stages of the national strategic project.
Following the appointment of the implementation partner, the company has begun the design drafting phase with a target of completion this year, so that the groundbreaking of the waste processing facility could take place by the end of 2026 or January 2027.
“This year we are targeting the completion of the design phase, then groundbreaking by the end of 2026 or at the latest January 2027. The construction process is expected to take two years, so by 2029 we hope this facility will be operational,” he said.
Fadli assessed that the readiness of the Bekasi Regency Government in supporting the PSEL construction is very good, particularly in preparing supporting infrastructure. Intensive coordination will continue to be carried out to ensure all work stages proceed on time according to plan.
“We see the commitment of the Bekasi Regency Government as very strong. With the synergy that continues to develop, we are optimistic that the PSEL construction will run according to target, so that this facility can soon operate and become a modern and sustainable waste management solution for Bekasi Regency,” he said.
Acting Regent of Bekasi Asep Surya Atmaja stated that his administration has prepared all the main requirements for the PSEL project over the past year so that the national strategic project can soon be realised in his region.
These preparations include the completion of the required administrative documents, the provision of five hectares of land which is now a regional government asset, and financial support worth Rp16.5 billion for land preparation works.
“We have also prioritised the widening of road access and the construction of a bridge towards the PSEL site so that all the project’s needs can be met and construction can proceed according to target,” he said.
He emphasised that the PSEL construction is not merely about presenting a waste processing facility, but is a long-term solution to address the waste accumulation at the Burangkeng landfill, which bears a waste production burden of 1,300 tonnes per day.
“This is not only about building a waste processing facility, but about building a more modern, environmentally friendly and sustainable waste management system. Therefore, all preparation stages must be carried out thoroughly so that the project runs smoothly and provides optimal benefits for the people of Bekasi Regency,” he said.
Asep revealed that in the initial operational phase, the PSEL facility is targeted to process 1,000 tonnes of waste per day, and will be increased gradually to optimal capacity in line with the readiness of the transport and operational systems.
The presence of the PSEL facility with a modern, integrated and sustainable waste management system is expected to curb the ever-increasing volume of waste, in line with population growth and rapid industrial activity.
“With a population now reaching 3.4 million people and thousands of companies operating here, the PSEL facility is a long-term solution to the waste problem in Bekasi Regency,” he said.
