JAKARTA — The Danantara Investment Management Agency and Qatar Investment Authority will jointly manage an investment fund worth US$4 billion, equivalent to approximately Rp 67.2 trillion (at an assumed exchange rate of Rp 16,800 per dollar).

The joint management arrangement is the result of an agreement reached during President Prabowo's visit to Qatar on 13 April 2025.

Danantara CEO Rosan P Roeslani said the funds would be managed by Danantara and QIA within a strategic co-partnership framework.

"The fund will be focused on investment opportunities across various strategic sectors, including downstream processing, healthcare, renewable energy, technology, and other sectors deemed relevant by the fund managers," Rosan said in a press statement received on Tuesday (15/4/2025).

Rosan said his institution was ready to oversee the realisation of the agreed investments. "We welcome the trust extended by the Government of Qatar through the establishment of this joint fund. Danantara Indonesia is ready to carry out this mandate by applying prudent, transparent, and results-oriented investment governance," he explained.

He added that Danantara's current focus is ensuring that every funded project delivers strategic and sustainable impact for the national economy.

Rosan stated that the collaboration between Indonesia and Qatar serves as proof of international confidence in Indonesia's institutional capacity to manage large-scale investments. The co-partnership initiative and expansion of strategic cooperation are expected not only to strengthen diplomatic relations between the two countries but also to make a tangible contribution to accelerating economic development and improving the welfare of the Indonesian people.

"This partnership is a concrete step in building trust with strategic global partners such as Qatar. It demonstrates that Indonesia is not merely an investment destination but also possesses the institutional capacity to manage investments professionally and accountably," Rosan explained.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto announced that the Danantara Investment Agency would receive US$2 billion, equivalent to Rp 33.5 trillion, in investment from the Qatari government. He made the announcement after meeting the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, in Doha on Sunday (13/4/2025) local time.

According to Prabowo, the investment provided by Qatar for Danantara takes the form of a joint fund with Indonesia. "I believe the meeting was very good, productive. We agreed to immediately enhance cooperation. He [the Emir of Qatar] will invest with Danantara, a joint fund," Prabowo said.

"He has committed US$2 billion in investment. I think this is excellent; this is a follow-up and he is very enthusiastic," he affirmed.

The meeting between President Prabowo and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, took place at Amiri Diwan Palace in Doha. Several economic ministers attended the Sunday meeting, including Minister of Investment and Downstream Processing/Head of BKPM and Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani, and Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait.
