Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Investment Management Agency (BPI) Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara), through PT Danantara Investment Management, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with local governments to accelerate the development of environmentally friendly waste processing technology into electricity (PSEL) in six locations. “An MoU has just been signed between Danantara and local governments to accelerate PSEL development in six locations, namely Lampung, Serang, Medan, Semarang, Bogor-Depok, and Bekasi Regency,” said Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan at Graha Mandiri, Jakarta, on Monday. He stated that the signing demonstrates the shared commitment between the central government, local governments, and Danantara to expedite the resolution of urban waste problems. According to him, PSEL development is directed at areas with waste emergency conditions, particularly regions with waste accumulation exceeding 1,000 tonnes per day. “Nearly 25 locations are targeted, involving 62 regencies/cities above 1,000 tonnes. Those below 1,000 will be addressed subsequently, but the emergencies first,” he said. He added that waste management is urgently needed because waste accumulation has caused soil, water, and air pollution, as well as threatening public health.
