Danantara Affirms SOEs' Role in National Trade Ecosystem

The Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) has affirmed the important role of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in supporting the national trade ecosystem. Senior Vice President of Strategic Technology Initiatives at Danantara, Ariya Sanjaya, stated in Jakarta on Thursday that this support is necessary to build an integrated and inclusive national trade ecosystem, including through the involvement of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

“There are many elements in the national trade ecosystem. There are sellers, buyers, and banks as a support for financing,” Ariya said. “Then it also includes the logistics ecosystem, warehousing, and later insurance. If we build all of this, we can build our national trade ecosystem.”

According to him, with an inclusive trade ecosystem, economic growth is expected to be more evenly distributed, considering that MSMEs are one of the pillars of the Indonesian economy. “We discussed how procurement in SOEs can be allocated for MSMEs. This is a shared challenge, how our industry can grow,” he said.

Ariya cited the example of PT Telkom Indonesia, which continues to drive the transformation of the PaDi UMKM digital marketplace as a procurement platform solution for SOE companies. The transformation of PaDi UMKM is important for SOEs because this platform prioritises products made domestically, with a relatively high Domestic Component Level (TKDN).

“PaDi UMKM is one part of the SOE ecosystem. As per Danantara’s mandate, we are looking at how we can optimise SOE assets, especially the potential within PaDi,” Ariya concluded.
