Danamon takes part in Indonesia's startup growth
PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (Danamon) is taking part in the growth of startups in Indonesia by participating in the Japan-ASEAN Startup Business Matching Fair 2026. This annual Krungsri event brings together startups, investors, and corporations from Japan and ASEAN to strengthen cross-border business collaboration. The business matching fair is part of the MUFG Global Network initiative to accelerate economic co-creation and the innovation ecosystem in the ASEAN-Japan region. At the event, Danamon also demonstrated its commitment by signing a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), Bank of Ayudhya (Krungsri), Krungsri Finnovate, and MUFG Innovation Partners (MUIP). The bank’s involvement in the LoI is in line with the presence of the MUIP Garuda Fund, a corporate venture fund resulting from a collaboration between MUIP, MUFG, and Danamon with a total commitment of USD 100 million, focusing on investments in the fintech and technology sectors. The MUIP Garuda Fund serves as a vehicle for Danamon to expand cross-border startup ecosystem connectivity while presenting more optimal sustainable collaboration and investment opportunities. ‘Danamon’s participation in the Japan-ASEAN Startup Business Matching Fair 2026 is our commitment to building startup ecosystem connectivity in the ASEAN region, particularly Indonesia, with Japan. Through synergy with the MUFG Global Network, we aim to provide broader access for Indonesian startups to meet global investors and corporations,’ said PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk Chief Strategy Officer Reza Iskandar Sardjono. In a single day, the Japan-ASEAN Startup Business Matching Fair 2026 successfully facilitated more than 500 business matching sessions, bringing together over 90 startups from six countries and 140 global companies and investors to build wider networks. Each participant had the opportunity to take part in startup pitching sessions, 1-on-1 business matching sessions, view partner bank and startup exhibition booths, join panel discussions on regional trends and investment, and participate in networking sessions aimed at strengthening business collaboration. ‘We believe that cross-border collaboration is key to growing a sustainable startup ecosystem. Through synergy with partners who have signed the Letter of Intent today and through the MUIP Garuda Fund, Danamon is committed to continuing to serve as a bridge for Indonesian startups to access global opportunities and compete in the international market,’ he said.
