Danamon Syariah Prepares Gold Product for Hajj Planning
The Sharia Business Unit of PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk is preparing a gold product to strengthen its Hajj service business. The product is designed as an instrument for planning Hajj costs and is targeted for launch in early 2027. Danamon’s Syariah Funding Business Head, Merci Santi Adriani, stated that the product is currently still in the development phase. According to her, Danamon Syariah sees gold products as having the potential to support the public in preparing for Hajj expenses gradually. ‘The product is still in the pipeline. We see gold products as having great potential to provide a solution for customers. We are currently developing it,’ Merci said during a media luncheon commemorating Danamon’s 70th anniversary in Jakarta. Merci explained that conceptually, the gold product being developed is not much different from similar products in the banking industry. However, Danamon Syariah will integrate it with Hajj services so it can be utilised as part of departure planning. ‘Conceptually, the gold product we are developing is more or less similar to products at other banks. However, we will direct this product specifically to support Hajj needs. So its features will be more focused as a Hajj planning solution,’ she said. According to Merci, product development is ongoing because it will be connected to Danamon Syariah’s digital services. The company is still refining the system and technical aspects before the product is launched to the public. ‘God willing, early next year,’ Merci said when asked about the product launch target. In addition to developing the gold product, Danamon Syariah is also expanding services within the Hajj ecosystem through various products, ranging from Hajj financing and Hajj planning savings to transaction services for customers active in Saudi Arabia. Merci said public demand for Hajj and Umrah services remains high, making it one of the company’s Sharia business development focuses. ‘Sharia products have advantages that are still very relevant, especially solutions for Hajj. The need of the Muslim community to perform Hajj or Umrah remains high, so we see significant business opportunities,’ she said.
