Danamon Partners with Regional Allies to Expand Funding Access and Startup Collaboration
PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (Danamon) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the growth of Indonesia’s startup ecosystem by participating in the Japan-ASEAN Startup Business Matching Fair 2026. The annual forum, organised by Krungsri, brought together startups, investors, and corporations from Japan and ASEAN countries to expand cross-border business collaboration. Danamon’s participation is part of an effort to strengthen innovation ecosystem connectivity in the ASEAN-Japan region through the MUFG Global Network. During the event, Danamon signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi), Bank of Ayudhya (Krungsri), Krungsri Finnovate, and MUFG Innovation Partners (MUIP). This agreement marks an initial step in tightening cross-border cooperation to support the development of startups in Indonesia and the ASEAN region. Chief Strategy Officer of PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk, Reza Iskandar Sardjono, stated that the company’s participation demonstrates its commitment to building connectivity between the Indonesian and Japanese startup ecosystems. He noted that through synergy with the MUFG Global Network, Danamon aims to provide broader access for Indonesian startups to meet global investors and corporations. The signing of the LoI also aligns with the presence of the MUIP Garuda Fund, a corporate venture capital fund resulting from a collaboration between MUFG Innovation Partners, MUFG, and Danamon, with a total investment commitment of US$100 million. The fund focuses on investments in the technology and financial technology (fintech) sectors, while also serving as a vehicle to expand cross-border collaboration and investment opportunities for Indonesian startups. The Japan-ASEAN Startup Business Matching Fair 2026 successfully connected more than 90 startups from six countries, including Indonesia, with around 140 global companies and investors. In a single day, the event facilitated over 500 business matching sessions, opening up various business and investment cooperation opportunities. Participants also engaged in startup pitching sessions, one-on-one business meetings, exhibitions and booth showcases, panel discussions on regional investment trends, and networking sessions designed to broaden industry connections. Reza added that cross-border collaboration is a crucial factor in building a sustainable startup ecosystem, and Danamon, together with its partners, is committed to continuously opening access for Indonesian startups to grow in the international market.
