The Indonesian startup ecosystem has gained greater opportunities for international market expansion and funding access through the Japan-ASEAN Startup Business Matching Fair 2026. This annual event is designed to connect startup players directly with investors and corporations from Japan and the ASEAN region.

As a concrete step to drive domestic startup growth, PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk, together with the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, Bank of Ayudhya (Krungsri), Krungsri Finnovate, and MUFG Innovation Partners (MUIP), officially signed a Letter of Intent. This cross-country collaboration under the MUFG Global Network is focused on accelerating the regional innovation ecosystem.

Financial support for the sector is further strengthened by the presence of the MUIP Garuda Fund, a corporate venture fund with a total commitment of USD 100 million. This investment fund is specifically allocated to target collaboration opportunities with startups in the technology and financial technology sectors.

The one-day business matching event facilitated more than 500 intensive business meetings. Over 90 startups from six countries, including representatives from Indonesia, were connected with 140 global companies and investors.

PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk Chief Strategy Officer, Reza Iskandar Sardjono, stressed the importance of opening global connectivity to help domestic digital players advance. “We want to provide broader access for Indonesian startups to meet global investors and corporations. Through synergy with partners who signed the Letter of Intent today and through the MUIP Garuda Fund, Danamon is committed to continuing to be a bridge for Indonesian startups in accessing global opportunities and competing in the international market,” said Reza.

Throughout the event, startups received comprehensive facilities to showcase their innovations. Activities included business pitching sessions, private one-on-one meetings, product exhibitions at showcase booths, and panel discussions exploring regional investment trends.

Through this integration of educational programmes, network expansion, and strategic venture capital support, the technology startup ecosystem in Indonesia is expected to optimise long-term investment opportunities and enhance its competitiveness on the international stage.
