PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk is strengthening its support for the growth of startups in Indonesia through participation in the Japan-ASEAN Startup Business Matching Fair 2026 and the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) with several strategic partners. Chief Strategy Officer Reza Iskandar Sardjono stated that the company’s involvement in the event is part of an effort to build connectivity between the Indonesian startup ecosystem and Japan through synergy with the MUFG Global Network. “Through synergy with the MUFG Global Network, we want to provide broader access for Indonesian startups to meet global investors and corporations,” Reza said in a statement received in Surabaya on Saturday. He explained that the LoI was signed with the Ministry of Communication and Digital, Bank of Ayudhya (Krungsri), Krungsri Finnovate, and MUFG Innovation Partners as a form of strengthening cross-country collaboration in developing the ASEAN-Japan startup ecosystem. The collaboration is also supported by the presence of the MUIP Garuda Fund, a corporate venture fund resulting from cooperation between MUFG Innovation Partners, MUFG, and Danamon with a total investment commitment of 100 million US dollars, focusing on the technology and financial technology (fintech) sectors. According to Reza, the presence of this investment fund is expected to expand the connectivity of Indonesian startups with the global ecosystem while opening up more sustainable collaboration and investment opportunities. In this year’s event, the Japan-ASEAN Startup Business Matching Fair 2026 facilitated more than 500 business matching sessions involving over 90 startups from six countries, including Indonesia, as well as 140 global companies and investors. In addition to business matching sessions, participants also took part in startup pitching, exhibitions, panel discussions on regional trends and investment, and networking sessions to strengthen cross-country business collaboration. Reza affirmed that Danamon will continue to act as a bridge for Indonesian startups to access global opportunities and enhance competitiveness in the international market. “We believe that cross-country collaboration is the key to growing a sustainable startup ecosystem,” he said.
