Danamon Chief to Change as Commissioner Nominated for CEO
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk announced plans to change its board composition, to be submitted to shareholders for approval at the annual general meeting of shareholders (RUPST) on 31 March 2026. The move signals a potential change at the bank’s helm (stock code BDMN), including Nobuya Kawasaki’s nomination to fill the position of president director. ‘PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk today announced its plan to change its board composition, to be submitted for shareholder approval at the annual general meeting of shareholders to be held on 31 March 2026,’ the bank’s management said in a written statement on Friday (6 March 2026). Chief Executive Daisuke Ejima, Deputy Chief Executive Honggo Widjojo Kangmasto, and Commissioner Nobuya Kawasaki are scheduled to complete their terms after that shareholders’ meeting. Following the end of his tenure as a commissioner, Nobuya Kawasaki will be nominated to serve as Danamon’s president director. The nomination awaits shareholder approval at the AGM. More details on the meeting agenda will be provided alongside the official AGM call, planned to be issued on 9 March 2026. In addition, Kawasaki serves as Director of Ascend Money since June 2024, Director of Globe Fintech Innovations Inc since 2024, and Director of Silvrr Technology Co Ltd since December 2022. Having spent more than two decades at MUFG Bank, Kawasaki is known for broad experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and banking investments. He has previously served as Director of Security Bank Corporation from April 2023 to May 2025, as well as Executive Officer and Deputy Group Head of the Global Commercial Banking Business Group at MUFG Bank Ltd from April 2023 to April 2025. Earlier, he was Executive Officer and Managing Director, Head of Global Commercial Banking Planning Division at MUFG Bank Ltd from April 2021 to March 2023, responsible for the development, communication and execution of inorganic strategic initiatives. His career also includes roles such as Managing Director Deputy Head of the Global Commercial Banking Planning Division MUFG Bank Ltd from August 2019 to March 2021, Managing Director Global Commercial Banking Planning Division MUFG Bank Ltd in Singapore from August 2018 to August 2019, and Managing Director Planning Division for Asia & Oceania MUFG Bank Ltd in Singapore from September 2013 to August 2018. Earlier, he served as Managing Director and Vice President of Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities in Japan from October 2006 to September 2013. Kawasaki was also one of the founders of the Portfolio Credit Management Division at Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi Ltd in Japan from October 2005 to October 2006. At the beginning of his career, he handled securitisation businesses at Mitsubishi Securities Japan from October 2002 to October 2005, and worked in the Associate Product Development Division of Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi Ltd from September 1998 to October 2002 and at the Associate Marunouchi Branch of Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi Ltd from April 1997 to September 1998. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Keio University in 1995 and went on to complete a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the same university in 1997.
