Damri has launched a direct intercity bus service from Jakarta to Denpasar, Bali, with a fare of around Rp 590,000 per passenger. The Jakarta–Denpasar journey is estimated to take about 26 hours; travelling via toll roads could reduce the travel time. Agus Hari Survijanto, Damri’s Senior Vice President for Commercial and Business Development, said the route was introduced to meet high demand for overland travel to Bali, particularly ahead of the mudik and holiday seasons. He explained that the service is still in a pilot phase initially, and the frequency is temporarily set at once per week. ‘For this initial stage, it is still piloting and we are endeavouring to operate regularly once a week for now,’ he said. ‘However, if demand increases, there is no guarantee we cannot increase the frequency,’ he added. He emphasised that Damri is confident the Bali route has significant market potential and that the company is open to increasing trip frequency. ‘We believe there is substantial demand to Denpasar. If the response is good, we could consider adding more frequent schedules, even daily,’ he insisted.
