DAMRI continues operations following authority directives
Perum DAMRI has confirmed that transport services in several regions, from Jabodetabek, Banten, Lampung, to Palembang, continue to operate normally amid activity at Mount Anak Krakatau, which has produced volcanic ash in a number of areas.
Head of Corporate Communication DAMRI Niken Pratiwi Syah Putri Distian said the company continues to monitor developments in Mount Anak Krakatau’s activity and conditions in its operational areas, while prioritising the safety of customers and all DAMRI personnel.
“Operations are currently running normally, but we remain alert to any developments on the ground and are following directives from the authorities,” Niken said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.
She said DAMRI services using the Merak-Bakauheni ferry crossing, including the Jakarta-Lampung service, are also still operating normally.
Nevertheless, operations for these services continue to adapt to developments on the ground, including the ferry crossing situation and directives from the authorities.
According to Niken, DAMRI will make operational adjustments if conditions on the ground make it impossible for journeys to proceed safely.
“If conditions do not allow safety to be guaranteed, DAMRI will make operational adjustments in accordance with the situation and applicable directives,” Niken said.
DAMRI also urged customers to pay attention to information and updates regarding service operations in affected areas through the company’s official communication channels.
Information about services will be updated if there are changes in conditions that affect operations.
In addition, the public is advised to follow the directives and recommendations of the authorities regarding volcanic ash conditions, including wearing masks and necessary protective equipment when carrying out outdoor activities.
The state-owned company also confirmed that monitoring of Mount Anak Krakatau’s development and the situation in its operational areas continues to be carried out as a precautionary measure to maintain the safety of customers and all company personnel.
