Jayapura (ANTARA) – The Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force has arrested Meno Heluka, a member of an armed criminal group (KKB), who was involved in the shooting of a TNI soldier, resulting in the death of Sergeant Major Segar Mulyana on 16 June 2025.

Head of the Damai Cartenz Task Force’s Public Relations Unit, Police Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, contacted in Jayapura, Papua, on Tuesday, said that Meno Heluka was arrested in the Dekai Market area, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains, on Monday (23 February), after being monitored for two days in the vicinity of Terminal 88 and suspected of intending to move to the Korowai region.

After confirming the presence of the KKB member, the Yahukimo Unit Law Enforcement Team arrested him and took him to the Yahukimo Police Station in Dekai for questioning.

Meno Heluka is one of the core members of the Kopitua Heluka group, which, along with its members, has been actively carrying out armed violence in the mountainous region of Papua.

Before arresting Meno, Yusuf said, the team monitored and investigated the movements of the individual, and after confirming his presence, the arrest was carried out immediately.

From the initial investigation, Meno Heluka is suspected of being involved in the shooting of Sergeant Major Segar Mulyana on 16 June 2025, resulting in the death of the soldier who was serving at the 1715/Yahukimo Military District Command.

Sergeant Major Segar Mulyana was a TNI AD soldier who served as a Village Supervisory Non-Commissioned Officer (Babinsa) in the Yahukimo region, with the responsibility of carrying out territorial development and maintaining security and public order.

“The incident occurred while the victim was carrying out his duties in support of maintaining security stability in an area considered prone to armed disturbances,” said Yusuf.
