Damaged School in Grobogan Linked to Free Nutritious Meal Programme, BGN Head: No Connection

The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sudaryono, has responded to the condition of SDN Tanggirejo in Tegowanu District, Grobogan Regency, Central Java. He stated that the school’s damage has no connection to the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. As a native of Grobogan, Sudaryono said he received information about the damaged school that recently went viral on social media. He noted that the school was already damaged before the MBG programme existed, so there is no link to the BGN. ‘Let us be objective, the school was indeed damaged before the MBG programme existed,’ he said during a press conference at the BGN Building on Wednesday (29/6/2026). Nevertheless, he said the damage at SDN Tanggirejo has received a response from the central government. He noted that President Prabowo Subianto has instructed that the school be repaired immediately. Sudaryono revealed that the mechanism for repairing the school is actually relatively easy. When a school is damaged, the public can file a report with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen). Once the report is submitted, the ministry will certainly carry out repairs. He claimed that the ministry has been continuously working to repair damaged schools across various regions in Indonesia. In 2025, at least 16,000 damaged schools were repaired by the ministry. Meanwhile, this year, 70,000 damaged schools will be repaired. ‘The problem is, this is not fair. We have repaired 16,000, and now we are repairing 70,000, but when one is damaged, especially if the MBG kitchen next to it is shiny, clean, blue, and nice, they get compared. I think this is something that is not fair,’ he said. According to Sudaryono, the BGN’s task today is to ensure that the MBG programme is implemented properly and correctly, so that the nutritional needs of the programme’s beneficiaries can be met.
