The bridge connecting Kumpulrejo Village, which was damaged by floods, can actually be handled using the Kendal Regency Government’s Regional Budget (APBD). However, the construction process is still constrained by technical recommendations from the provincial government.

“Today, the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency has conducted an assessment there, and we are waiting for technical recommendations from the province because previously, the budget in the existing recommendation was too high. We will propose that it be adjusted to match the regency’s budget, and we will address it immediately,” said Tika while participating in a virtual Kopdes Merahputih meeting in Cepiring, Kendal Regency, on Saturday (May 16, 2026).

The Kendal Regency Government, through relevant departments including the local Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency, has conducted an assessment at the location of the bridge connecting Brangsong and Kaliwungu sub-districts.

The construction of the bridge over the river, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Central Java Provincial River Management Authority (PSDA), must obtain technical recommendations from the Central Java Province’s Technical Data and Information Center (Pusdataru).

However, the current applicable technical recommendation regulations are considered to require a very large construction cost.

Tika emphasized that handling the bridge must be done immediately. If left unattended for too long, when the river’s water level rises again or flooding occurs, “it is feared that water will enter residential areas and cause flooding in the area,” Tika said.

The Head of the Kendal Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency, Daryanto, explained that according to the technical recommendations from the province, the bridge construction must have a minimum height of one and a half meters from the riverbed. This condition makes the position of the bridge higher and requires long road approaches on either side so that the road slope is not too steep.

“Today we conducted an assessment and reported the conditions on the ground to the province. The current problem is that the technical recommendations from the province are too high, so the bridge will look like it’s hanging because the regulation requires the bridge to be 1.5 meters above the parapet,” explained Daryanto.

Daryanto said that the budget needed for bridge construction has also increased significantly. “Therefore, the Kendal Regency Government requests that technical recommendations from the province can be adjusted to match the local budget’s capabilities,” said Daryanto.
