Damage to Transformer at South Jakarta City Hall Under Discussion by DKI DPRD
Jakarta (ANTARA) - South Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar stated that Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD is currently discussing the damage to the transformer at the South Jakarta City Hall, which exploded and caused a fire on 28 December 2025.
The fire is believed to have occurred due to the age of the equipment and disruptions in the electrical system.
“This is currently being discussed in Commission A. If we want the discussion to be completed, we will do it as quickly as possible,” Anwar said when confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.
He stated that the transformer fire occurred due to an act of God or something beyond human control (force majeure).
As a result of the fire, civil servants (ASN) and local employees are still feeling the heat because it affects the room cooling.
Anwar said the fire was caused by a transformer that could no longer be operated, impacting the air conditioning in the 17-storey building.
Anwar admitted that he is continuously endeavouring to have the transformer repaired as soon as possible so as not to disrupt the comfort of employees while working.
“That’s why I hope the procurement can be done as quickly as possible this year,” Anwar hoped.
In addition, he continued, the South Jakarta Administrative City Government is also considering budget reallocation for repairing the electrical system in Block A Building of the South Jakarta City Hall due to the fire.
Previously, 28 personnel from the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-Department extinguished the fire that occurred in the transformer genset room at the South Jakarta City Hall on 28 December 2025.
The transformer fire was suspected to be due to the age of the equipment and disruptions in the electrical system.
