Dam water damaged farms: Cambodia

PHNOM PENH (Reuters): Hundreds of farms in northeastern
Cambodia were damaged when water from a hydro-electric dam in
neighboring Vietnam was unexpectedly released, Cambodian
officials said on Thursday.

The release of water several days ago from the dam on the Se
San river, which flows from southern Vietnam into Cambodia's
Rattanakiri province, resulted in the loss of livestock and
damage to homes and fields, the officials said.

Provincial governor Kham Khoeun said officials from both
countries were discussing the problem.

Vietnam and Cambodia have overlapping claims along some parts
of their land and sea border but have vowed to resolve all
disputes by the end of the year.
